Summer and Fall Events

If you’ve been wanting to stitch with In The Quiet Hours, there are many opportunities to do so this Summer (and Fall!) ! There are beginner, intermediate classes and special themed workshops lined up. Check out the list and registration links below:

I am pleased to become the newest embroidery instructor at Atlanta’s Fabricate Studios! Fabricate has a stellar line up of machine and hand sewing classes for all levels. The hand embroidery classes offered here are two night intensives that give you good technical knowledge of stitches and hands on applications that include learning to transfer patterns and project based lessons.

Indie Craft Experience is not only a Southeastern destination for bi-annual craft and vintage markets, they also have a beautiful studio in Atlanta’s Candler Park neighborhood. On August 6th, I am leading a special ICE CREAM Themed hand embroidery workshop that is suitable for all levels of stitchers. I am so excited about this original Quiet Hours design that I created specifically for this event! I will teach five basic embroidery stitches (including two I don’t normally teach: lattice work and eyelet stitch) and you will take home a super sweet treats piece of hand stitched art! (Bonus: come for the day and stitch while your handmade vegan ice cream sandwiches Set! Becky Stripe of Glue & Glitter is leading this class and you are encouraged to sign Up for both and spend the day making with us!) To Register: http://www.ice-atlanta.com/late-summer-workshops/

I have been teaching two hour beginner, intermediate and project based classes at Garage Door Studios in Avondale Estates for about a year now. It is such a lovely shop and studio, run by a group of lovely and talented ladies! If you are looking for a good refresher or basic intro to hand embroidery, I hope you can join me at Garage Door soon!

New Get Stitchy Events In September

We've got two events coming up in September, both in and out of the perimeter! Click the images below to see the EventBrite details of both and see which works best for you!

May Event: Get Stitchy!

In May, come Get Stitchy! with fellow embroidery fans at Hodgepodge Coffeehouse! Click here to RSVP to this event! This month's meeting of the needles is free to attend. You can bring a stitching project from home OR purchase an original Quiet Hours pattern kit at the gathering. The proceeds of May's kit sales will go towards Quiet Hours children's embroidery outreach. (Hoops, needles, thread, fabric will all be purchased with this money) We already have a date to stitch with the kids of the East Atlanta Branch Atlanta-Fulton Co. Library late in June. And we are working on a date to bring embroidery to the patients of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Egelston Branch at Emory. I am really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces as well as new ones for May's Get Stitchy! event! See you on May 15th from 6-9pm at Hodgepodge Coffeehouse on Moreland Ave. !! New Monthly Stitching Club

On August 21st, In The Quiet Hours held its first embroidered tote bag project class. We learned a lot about stitching on canvas and why crafters working with hefty materials use rubber thimbles. However, for me, the best part of the evening was when personal embroidery projects were pulled out and newly found patterns were shared! We talked stitches, transfer methods, needle sizes and lots of other geeky stitchy topics. It was fantastic!

So, on the second Wednesday of each month from 6-8pm I will host a Stitching Club (witty name, tbd) where you can meet with fellow embroidery enthusiasts and talk the crafty talk. Yeah, I’m excited too! These meetups are free, please rsvp if you know you can make it so we have enough space. I will have Quiet Hours hoop and necklace pattern kits and extra materials available for purchase. The first Stitchy Club will be on September 10th at Bennett’s Market & Deli in Grant Park. Put it on your calendar and I’ll see you there!
